AFTERCARE

Congratulations, you just sat through a tattoo from one of the most sought after artists in Edmonton, you are now officially just a bit more bad ass.

Our amazing tattoo artists at Bombshell will ensure that your new tattoo is fully cleaned and wrapped before you leave our parlour.

To ensure you do not damage your fresh tattoo please leave your bandage on overnight.

To ensure proper healing the consumption of alcohol is not recommended tonight. (yeah, sorry)

If your tattoo is excessively painful and or swolen tonight we recommend elevating the area and applying an ice pack over the bandaged area.

TOMORROW MORNING (T-DAY +1)

Gently unwrap your tattoo and rinse the area under clean running water and gentle antibacterial soap. Remember that your tattoo is an open wound and it needs to be kept clean.

It is common for your tattoo to weep for approximately 12 to 30 hours after you leave the parlour, you must clean your tattoo 3 to 5 times a day with antibacterial soap until it is fully healed.

A slight amount of redness or bruising is common around the fresh tattoo in the first 1 to 3 days.

Today you are not to wear any clothing that may come into contact with your fresh tattoo and adhere to the surface

If your tattoo is swollen or painful today elevate the area, ice packs may be used prior to the removal of the bandages.

DO NOT APPLY LOTION TO YOUR TATTOO TODAY

AFTER THAT (T-DAY +2 ONWARD)

Again we recommend cleaning your fresh tattoo several times daily under clean running water with a gentle antivacterial soap until such time as all peeling and flaking has finished.

After cleaning your fresh tattoo if it feels dry enough that it is at risk of cracking you may now apply a small amount of lotion to prevent it from cracking and damaging your fresh tattoo.

We have aftercare lotion available in store, of you do not wish to purchase tattoo aftercare, unscented lotion may be used at your own risk.

Do not over-over lotion your tattoo, use only enough lotion to prevent it from cracking.  over use of lotion builds scabs and water-logging which may damage your tattoo, and is not covered by our touch up policy.

FEET, HANDS AND LOWER LIMBS:

These areas are more prone to swelling and risk of infection due to the high flex and exposure to debris during the healing period

please exercise diligence in healing these areas, keep lower limbs elevated to prevent swelling and do not under any circumstances wear enclosed footwear that will entrap bacteria against your wound until your foot tattoo is fully healed.

IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU HAVE GOTTEN YOUR NEW TATTOO INFECTED, PLEASE SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY

CAUTIONS:

Please remember that your tattoo is an open wound, avoid coming into contact with anything that may incur and infection, such as dirt, debris or possible contagions.

If you feel you may have exposed your to something unsavoury, clean your tattoo immediately with antibacterial soap.

Do not soak your new tattoo in water (bathtub, hot, swimming pool, etc…) for approximately 2 weeks or until all peeling has finished.

Do not expose your fresh tattoo to direct sunlight for approximately 2 weeks or until it has finished peeling.

Sun exposure after the healing period is only recommended with the use of proper UV protection, excessive sun exposure will damage and prematurely age tattoos.

Do not over lotion your healing tattoo, lotion has no healing properties and is purely used to prevent cracking. More lotion is not better.

The use of polysporin will damage healing tattoos

TOUCHUP POLICY:

On the odd occasion some tattoos may require small touch-ups, a touchup is when a section of your tattoo does not heal exactly as it should.

These touchups incur a supply fee only when retouched by the original artist within 90 days of completion

All touchups must be booked in person, in store.

If you change your mind on the design, wish to add something, or fail to adhere to the aftercare listed we will be unable to touch up your tattoo free of hourly charge.
